0101 (zero-one-zero-one) is is an immersive piece of music theatre that explores the Y2K bug scare becoming a reality in the year 2021, shutting down computer networks and programming. This disaster disrupted everyday life as things were adjusted to being online a year prior due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the internet being a lifeline for many during this time we explore how different characters adapt to communicate with each other differently.

There is also a slight focus on the deaf and hard of hearing communities and their heighted struggles due to these combined events. The implemented use of masks and social distancing in everyday social interactions has left communities even more isolated due to the fact that these rules restrict how communication comes across. A struggle that a lot of people can relate to as well. However the piece also explores ways of adapting and communicating.
Hence exploring vibrations within the music, movement, use of lighting, lack of highlighted spoken dialogue and the incorporation of sign language in our piece. The piece aims to transport the audience into this reality and have them become a part of the performance.
